Family Attractions in the West Midlands

Summer is a good time to take a day trip with the family.  Here are a few ideas for places to visit:

Dudley Zoo and Castle – Dudley, DY1 4QB

There are over 1000 animals on a 40-acre site, a land train, vintage chairlift, adventure playground, fair rides, and face painting. Dine in the licensed restaurant or bring a picnic.

Cadbury World – Linden Rd, Bournville, B30 1JR

Learn how your favourite chocolate is made, go to a 4D cinema experience with motion seats, or ride the Crunchie Rollercoaster.

Legoland Discovery Centre – King Edwards Rd, Birmingham B1 2AA

There are 2 magical rides, thousands of Lego bricks to play and a soft play area.  Check the website for the events that are on throughout the year.

Thinktank – Birmingham Science Museum – Curzon St, Birmingham, B4 7XG

Explore MiniBrum, a child-sized city, visit the planetarium, and discover a world of science in the interactive outdoor science garden. Learn more about Birmingham’s industrial past and see steam engines, trains, cars, and planes from yesteryear as well as coming face to face with a dinosaur.

National Sea Life Centre – The Waters Edge, Birmingham, B1 2HL

Experience the 4D cinema, see sharks, rays, seahorses, clownfish and much more, Meet the UKs first sea otters, visit the penguins and marvel at the fish overhead and underneath as you walk through the UKs only 360° Ocean Tunnel.

Sarehole Mill – Cole Bank Rd, Moseley B13 0BD

The mill has two waterwheels, one of which is operational is and is used to grind wheat every Wednesday and Sunday. The mill has connections with Matthew Boulton and sells flour from the mill shop.

Blakesley Hall – Blakesley Rd, B25 8RN

A delightfully restored timber-framed Yeoman famer’s house built around 1590. Set in landscaped grounds including herb gardens, a visitor centre, shop, and tearoom.

Cannon Hill Park – Moseley, B13 8RD

One of the premier parks in the city with beautiful flowerbeds, and lakes. Ideal family venue with a children’s play area, fun park, boats for hire, garden tea-room, café, the MAC and lots of picnic areas.
