THE WEST MIDLANDS IS FIRST IN THE ROLLOUT

If you let a relevant private rented property in the West Midlands, you will need to register yourself and each property on the new PRS Database. Start preparing your information now.

£65 PER PROPERTY / YEAR  – Annual registration fee

£7,000 (up to) – Civil penalty for failing to register

£40,000 (up to) – Repeated or serious breaches

WEST MIDLANDS REGISTRATION DEADLINE 14 MARCH 2027

Landlords remain responsible for making sure registration is completed on time.

WHAT YOU NEED

Landlord details – Contact details for all relevant joint landlords.

Property details – Address, property type, bedrooms, households/residents and occupancy information.

Compliance information – Gas, electrical and EPC information, plus relevant licensing details.

IMPORTANT FOR LANDLORDS  

It is the landlord’s responsibility – The landlord is responsible for starting and completing registration, even where a letting agent or property manager helps provide information.

Don’t miss the deadline – Register your properties from the 15 December 2026 to 14 March 2027. The deadline follows the property’s location.

Penalties can apply – Failure to register, or marketing/letting an unregistered property, can lead to a civil penalty. Repeated or serious breaches can attract much higher penalties.

REGISTRATION FEE £65 per property, per year

Renewed annually

Fee applies to each registered property.
