THE OULSNAM SWIMATHON
On Sunday 6th November Hannah Lane from our Moseley office and Laura Fiddes-Baron from our lettings office completed a 1 mile swimathon.
This is the last but one of our charity events this year that we are hosting to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society. We booked a lane at The Dolphin Centre in Bromsgrove for the event and they were really supportive and encouraging, giving us free entry and cheers, which was lovely.
Prior to the event both participants had swam a little as practice but not nearly enough for the challenge ahead. Laura has never been a strong swimmer, struggling to even swim 1 length earlier in the year but made herself practice so that she didn’t drown in the Wolf Run lake she had to swim as part of another crazy charity challenge in April. Hannah hadn’t swam for the last few months either so it was going to be quite a tough challenge!
Hannah and Laura decided that they would split the number of lengths in half to keep it even and swam in the lane together to save getting cold waiting on the side-line. They really went for it and managed to complete the challenge in just under 45 minutes which was pretty impressive considering the lead up.
They were both pretty achy afterwards but felt really good about completing the challenge so quickly. To date they have managed to raise £215.00 which is a real achievement and brings the companies running total raised for the year so far to just over £1800.00.
