STAFF INTERVIEW SERIES- Spotlight on: David Ashdown
David Ashdown (Lettings valuer)
“I have a highly expressionate face! (You may have seen it on Facebook already!)”
Time with the company: 2 years
What made you get into lettings? I had always loved watching house programmes like Grand Designs and building programmes and thought that’s something I really want to get into. I love meeting and interacting with people and estate agency seemed like the perfect way to combine the 2. I dropped my CV off at Oulsnam’s Redditch office and although I had little property experience they saw potential in me. That’s the great thing about the company- they always look at the persons individual qualities rather than getting hung up on people having experience. They very quickly trained me up and I am now ARLA qualified and am now studying Real Estate Management BSc to progress my career.
What do you enjoy most about the job? Being out and about meeting new people every day and letting property quickly.
What do you think makes Oulsnam Lettings so good? The personal touch and the fact that there are no call centres.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I love skiing, fine dining, going out to comedy clubs and spending time with my family and friends.
Do you have any random quirks or skills? Yes- I have a highly expressionate face! (You may have seen it on Facebook already!)
What is the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you? On my 20th birthday I was cling filmed to a lamp post and left there alone for 15 minutes. That had to be the longest 15 minutes of my life!
What are your top 3 life highlights? Marrying my wife, Emma, the birth of my son Jacob and passing my level 2 skiing instructor exam
What would be the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery? A big house with stables. My wife loves horses and it would be amazing to have them at home.
What scares you the most? Heights, which you may find strange as I love skiing! The weird thing is I’m fine on a ski lift but I hate the cable cars!
What top things are on your bucket list? Skiing in Japan and visiting New Zealand.
