Now is the time to invest

If you have money to invest or are looking at investments generally, now is very much the time to consider investing in properties to rent.

Reports in the last week would suggest there is an emerging consensus that interest rates and certainly the Bank of England base rate is likely to remain at its current level for quite some time and that the current very low level of interest rates could remain for up to five years.

If this indeed happens then it may not be the best idea to invest in banks or building societies. The latest surveys would indicate the rented property in the Midlands are producing an income of around 5% on the amount invested. This is in itself far in excess of what you are likely to get from the banks and does not take into account the potential over the next 2/3 years for prices to rise and give a potential return of nearer 10%.

The ideal type of property to invest in we have always found in is the modern two or three bedroom terraced and semi-detached houses up to five years old and found in most suburban areas and which should be close to amenities such as shops and public transport. This type of property always lets very well indeed with rents of around £500-£575 per month. If you are thinking of investing our letting department would be more than happy to advise you.
