Mud, mud and more mud! Our Charity Wolf Run 2016
We are very proud to say we all made it around what was apparently the muddiest spring Wolf Run to date. The course was 10k in total but felt more like 20k in the knee deep mud.
We started off going over huge tractor tyres which were almost bigger in height than the shortest in the team- Kerry and Stacy! There was then quite a long run up and down some hills to the next series of obstacles- a lake crossing, a crawl-through muddy water filled pit and a trench filled with waist high muddy water which you had to pull yourself out of with ropes. By this point all of us were totally plastered in mud with no going back. The rest of the course offered us the following challenges 12 foot high solid log walls (some with ropes to get up, others without), neck high with muddy water trenches and lakes to cross, cargo nets, monkey bars, crawl through spaces filled with thick muck mud and water, a water slide and many more challenging obstacles. By far the coldest obstacle was the lake swim- by the time we were only a quarter of the way across we had lost all sensation in our arms and legs. We saw quite a few people having to be canoed out because they got into difficulties in the ice cold water- not surprising really when apparently the lake was colder than the last event held in November!
The nicest thing about the whole event was the sense of team spirit. Everybody was willing to help each other over some of the trickier obstacles and complete strangers would stop to check you were ok. We are all immensely proud of one another for completing such a tough event and even prouder that we have managed to raise over £600 for the Alzheimers Society in doing so.
Our next charity event is The Yorkshire Three Peaks which a few of the Oulsnam Team are completing mid-July.
