House prices stay the same
There was little evidence of rising house prices in Birmingham and Worcestershire in March reports Andrew Oulsnam, Managing Partner of Robert Oulsnam & Company. There has been a significant increase in the number of properties coming onto the market and the latest surveys indicate that asking prices are lower than at the start of the year.
At the same time the number of purchasers has not increased and purchasers are becoming much more selective deliberating long before deciding on their next move. The very poor weather in January and February which has extended into March has undoubtedly had an affect on the housing market. To this must be added the effect of the increase in lower rate stamp duty in January.
Now for some good news, the warm weather and the daffodils are at last out and Easter is less than two weeks away. Easter is always a threshold in the market bringing a surge of fresh interest into the spring and early summer.
