When is the Best Time to Sell Your Home?

Why Putting your House on the Market at Christmas is the Best Sales Strategy
Whilst you may be winding down at work over the Christmas period, the property industry certainly isn’t! In 2018, Rightmove saw the number of properties viewed soar by an amazing 228% from Christmas Day to the first working day of the New Year. *
This is why November and December could be the optimum time for you to put your home on the market, if you are serious about moving house early 2020. And, if you want to ensure a quick sale, make sure you read our blog about how to sell your home as quickly as possible.
Rachel Andrews, Branch Manager of our Bournville sales branch says:
If you are a homeowner currently thinking about coming to the market early in 2020, you should really think about listing before Christmas and the New Year, in order to get the most exposure when people are browsing for their next home over the festive break.
But Wait, What About Brexit and the December Election?!
We’ve said it many times before, that these current political times are altering a few people’s decisions about selling or buying a new property. However, we think it’s a good idea to list before any final Brexit outcome.
Why should you list your home before Brexit? Well, as soon as the political situation stabilises, the chances are that those sellers holding off now, will make the decision to list their property for sale. This will create more competition in the marketplace as the current shortage of property for sale is creating a positive market for people with the courage to proceed with “business as normal”. What we basically mean, is that listing your property now, could give you a distinct advantage ahead of sellers that come late to the party.
After all, if someone’s New Year’s resolution is to move house, you need to make sure yours is already listed so that they can resolve to move into yours!
