Vegan Friendly Birmingham

The increase of people exploring alternative diets has risen over the last few years.  This is partly down to more awareness of plant-based diets because of Netflix documentaries and a rise in the discussion of the environmental benefits of “going vegan”.

And so, with the New Year comes the influx of New Year’ resolutions; a lot of which will revolve around eating habit changes.  Perhaps one of the most popular month-long challenges that have become a staple in the yearly calendar such as Movember and Go Sober for October is Veganuary.  Veganuary is a charity inspiring people to try vegan for January and throughout the rest of the year.

Whether you’re already a committed vegan, or January 2020 is your first foray into trying something different with your food, it always helps to have somewhere local to go to try out some new foods.

Some of the suburbs of Birmingham are renowned for their intrinsically independent, sometimes alternative and certainly vibrant community spirit.  So, perhaps it is no surprise that Bearwood, Kings Heath and Handsworth all play host to a monthly Earth Market which is hosted by Vegan Vybes.  Vegan Vybes are a not-for-profit organisation promoting cruelty-free and plant-based enterprise in urban areas.

Monthly Vegan Market in Bearwood

The second Sunday of every month sees the Bearwood Earth Market at Lightwoods House and Gardens. You can see more about the monthly event on their Facebook page here.

Kings Heath Community Earth Market

Every last Sunday of the month, the All Saints Centre in Kings Heath hosts the Kings Heath Earth Market.  Find out more details about the traders who will be there on the Facebook event page here.

If you’re taking part in Veganuary, good luck – and we hope you’ll enjoy visiting some of these super awesome markets!
