Northfield Charity Christmas Collections
Fri 04 Dec 2020

This year, once again b31 voices will partner with Rubery Morrisons to collect toys and gifts this Christmas. These will be given to children in need across south west Birmingham.
Over the years the scheme has seen an amazing response from the community. Not only does the scheme provide gifts to under-privileged children, but it also brings everyone together during the festive period, creating a great community spirit. With the hardships of 2020, this year’s collection is more important than ever.
The gifts donated during the collection process will be shared out amongst three amazing charities, all benefiting children in south west Birmingham. These are:
- Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid
This charity is devoted to supporting women who have suffered domestic violence. This charity has been facing increased demand this year, like other nationwide domestic violence charities, due to the pandemic.
- New Starts
Base in Bromsgrove, with their shop in Frankley, New Starts support countless families across south west Birmingham and north Bromsgrove. They provide essential homewares and furnishing, along with food parcels, computers and much more.
- Northfield food service
Only formed in October in response to the parliamentary vote against half term Free School Meals, Northfield Food Service provides prepared meals for children school holidays and once a week during term time. As many are facing hardship, this charity is extremely vital to families in Birmingham.
What can be donated?
The pandemic has meant that donations must be slightly different this year. All gifts must be new and in their original packaging. Gifts must also be wipeable, so that they can be disinfected to reduce the risk of contamination. Although we’re all getting in the festive spirit, we kindly ask that all gifts remain unwrapped as this allows us to clean them easily.
Where can I donate?
Donations should be taken to Rubery Morrisons, and can be placed in the collection box, which is situated by the community board. We appreciate that not everyone may wish to go in-store to donate at the moment, but there are still ways to donate. Online cash donations are also being accepted. These will be put towards a variety of brand-new toys and gifts. If you wish to donate online to these amazing causes this Christmas, you can securely do so by visiting www.paypal.me/B31Voices.
