Café Craft in the centre of Bearwood is a brilliant indoor pottery and craft centre which is perfect for adults and children alike!  You bring the imagination, they supply the materials, atmosphere and inspiration!  You can choose pots and mugs to paint, create foot or hand prints, or make your own jewellery.  There’s a cool continental style coffee lounge serving high quality coffee, fresh deli style food including bagels and cakes and premium deserts to indulge your sweet tooth. 

What Do You Call A Dinosaur with One Eye?

A doyouthinkhesawus!!  Groan….  It may not be the best joke ever told, but there’s plenty of fun to be had at the University of Birmingham’s Lapworth Museum of Geology, about 3 miles west of Bearwood.  With a recent £2.7m redevelopment, exciting family activities, and one of the most extensive collections of fossils, minerals and rocks in the region, this is one must-see free educational and exciting day out.  This half term, activities include the chance to explore the museum by torch light and discover their most terribly terrifying objects on 30th October and take part in Myths and Legends day on 31st October and learn more about the tales that that find their routes in Geology.

Lightwoods Park & House

The beautiful house and garden of Lightwoods which is located in Bearwood has recently from a £5.2 million investment from the National Lottery, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Sandwell Court.  This money has transformed the park and house, restoring its grade II listed buildings and renovating the historical parts of the park such as the 19th Century bandstand and Shakespeare Garden into a great location for a day out.  There is also a skate park and play area as well as a tea room if you fancy a cuppa!

Release Your Inner Daredevil

Broadway Plaza in Birmingham is a great central location for lots of activities including bowling and the cinema.  If you’re looking for a little bit more of a thrill, why not try Rock Up with its 26 multi-coloured indoor climbing walls, reaching up to 25ft into the air to have a go at summiting!  Using auto belay devices which take in the slack as you climb and then gently lower you down, climbing has never been easier, safer or more thrilling and, you can get stuck in from age 4 up.

There’s a café which serves a wide array of scrumptious cakes, snacks and meals to defeat your hunger as well as coffee and smoothies.  If you have smaller children to consider, there’s a soft play area including swings, slides and a ball pool.
