Doorstep mass testing in Northfield to fight South African variant

From a recent cabinet meeting we have heard that steps are being taken to address cases of the new variants of coronavirus including the new South African variant.
Doorstop mass testing in Northfield were being launched in the areas north of Holly Hill Road, New Street and Boleyn Road.
These households will receive drop and collect Covid-19 tests where the South African variant has been recorded.
The work, which is part of a national response to variants dubbed ‘Operation Eagle’ – after it was reported that two residents were found to have the high infectious South African variant.
There is a drive to test 10,000 people in the affected area within a week in bid to monitor the spread.
A postcode checker, which can be found on the city council website for residents to check if they live or work within the affected zones and further updates.
